Chimney
Indian cooking is hard on a kitchen. High-flame frying, tadka, and daily masala work throw off more smoke, oil vapour, and lingering odour than most other cuisines in the world. A kitchen chimney pulls all of that out before it settles on your walls, cabinets, and ceiling. KAFF has built these for Indian homes for over two decades, and today that means BLDC motors, suction up to 1600 m³/h, and Dry Heat Auto Clean technology across four ranges, Essential, Premier, Collection, and Island.

Chimney Buying Guide
What Is a Kitchen Chimney
A kitchen chimney, also called a cooker hood, chimney hood, or kitchen exhaust hood, is installed directly above your stove or hob. Its job is simple: capture smoke, steam, grease, and odour at the source and vent it out of the kitchen, or filter and recirculate it if there is no duct outlet. Without one, oil particles settle on tiles, cabinets, and the false ceiling over time, and the air you are cooking and breathing in stays heavier than it should.
Types of Kitchen Chimneys at KAFF
Auto Clean Chimney
This type separates oil from smoke before it can coat the motor or blades. KAFF’s Dry Heat Auto Clean (DHC) technology heats the collection surface to loosen sticky oil, which then drains into a removable tray you empty by hand. Good fit for kitchens that fry and saute often.
Filterless Chimney
This design has no mesh or baffle filter to wash or replace. DHC technology handles the oil load directly, which cuts weekly cleaning down to almost nothing. Models like the XPRO 60, ELECTRA DHC 90, and CASTO 60 DC fall in this category.
Baffle Filter Chimney
Baffle filters use stainless steel plates that force the air to change direction, dropping grease out before it reaches the motor. They are dishwasher-safe and hold up well against oily cooking. MAX BF 60 and LIZ DHC are examples from KAFF’s range.
Wall Mounted Chimney
This is the standard setup for a stove placed against a wall, and it is what most Indian kitchens use. KAFF offers these across all four ranges in 60cm, 75cm, and 90cm widths.
Island Chimney
For a hob placed in the centre of the room, an island (or ceiling mounted) hood hangs from above rather than the wall. These tend to be the design centrepiece of open-plan kitchens, and KAFF’s Island Range, including the SKYVENT 110 and the ZEBRA 41, is built for that role.
Ductless Chimney
A ductless chimney does not vent outside through a duct. It draws in smoke and grease, passes the air through filters, and pushes the cleaned air back into the kitchen. This suits apartments, rented flats, and any kitchen where running an exhaust duct is not possible. The trade-off in the duct vs ductless chimney choice is maintenance: filters need more frequent cleaning since they are doing the grease-separation job that venting outside would otherwise handle.
BLDC Motor Chimney
A BLDC, or brushless DC, motor draws less power, runs quieter, and pulls harder than a conventional motor. It is the technology behind most of KAFF's Premier and Collection range models, including LYNN 60/75/90 DC and LINNEA RG 60 DC- BLDC Motor Chimney.
KAFF Chimney Ranges
Essential Range
It covers everyday chimneys built for value, baffle filter and wall mounted models like the MAX BF 60 and MILL DHC 60, priced for a first modular kitchen.
Premier Range
It adds filterless and Dry Heat Auto Clean technology across models such as XPRO 60, ELECTRA DHC 90, and NOBELO TX DHC 90 with twin motor technology, aimed at homes that want low maintenance without stepping up to the top tier.
Collection Range
It is where the newest technology sits: gesture control on the FALMARC DHC 90-A, a built-in smoke sensor on the AIRFRAME SM DHC 90, and zero-maintenance design on the CANARY 90 DC.
Island Range
It is built for open kitchens with a central hob. The SKYVENT 110, RUSSO 42, and OPEC DHC 90 (IS) are designed to be seen, not tucked against a wall.
Key Features to Look For
- BLDC motor for stronger chimney suction power at lower power draw and quieter running
- Dry Heat Auto Clean to loosen and collect oil without manual scrubbing
- Wider chamber entrance on premium models, which widens the suction umbrella so smoke gets trapped before it spreads
- Heavy-duty baffle filter with oil collector for durable, easy-clean grease separation
- Gesture or motion control to operate it without touching the panel
- Smoke sensor that adjusts suction automatically as smoke levels rise
- Thermal overload protection and auto-off timers for safety and lower power use
- Energy-efficient LED lighting over the cooktop
How to Choose the Right Chimney
Start with kitchen chimney dimensions: a 60cm model suits a 2 to 3 burner stove, a 90cm model suits a 3 to 4 burner hob, and 75cm sits in between. Match the width to the stove, not just the counter space.
Next is suction power, as for regular cooking, 1000 to 1200 m³/h is enough. If you fry often or cook on high flame daily, look for 1400 to 1600 m³/h.
Then decide between a baffle filter and a filterless design. Both handle oily Indian cooking well. Baffle filters often cost less upfront and are dishwasher-friendly. Filterless models often cost a bit more but need less day-to-day upkeep.
Check whether your kitchen can support ducting. A ducted chimney vents outside and works best with a flexible aluminium duct pipe, not PVC. If ducting is not possible, a ductless model recirculates filtered air instead.
Finally, look at the noise. Models using KAFF's Hush System run as low as 54 dBA, low enough that it will not compete with conversation in the kitchen.
Why Choose KAFF
KAFF has built kitchen chimneys in India for over twenty years, which shows up in details buyers notice after purchase, about which you can read on our Product Warranty Page, and pan-India after-sales support for installation and service from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. Four distinct ranges, Essential through Island, mean the choice comes down to your kitchen and budget rather than a single one-size-fits-all model, which is part of why KAFF is regarded as one of the best kitchen chimney brands in India.
